By Road
From London, the Midlands and the rest of the UK:

Take the M5 into Devon. Leave the M5 at Junction 27 and take the A361 (North Devon Link Road*) to Barnstaple for approximately 36 miles until you come to a roundabout where the A39 (Atlantic Highway) to Bideford is signposted.
After about 10 miles, and directly after crossing the New Torridge Bridge, turn right at the roundabout (Heywood Road) and follow the signs to Appledore. There is a 30 mph speed limit all the way from the roundabout! Please remember also that the roads are quite narrow and visibility from turnings is difficult, so please keep your speed down!!!

*The A361 from Tiverton is mainly single carriageway with crawler lanes on some of the uphill stretches. Travelling to Barnstaple you will need to observe the 60 mph speed limit. There are currently two cameras between the eastbound route Barnstaple to M5 J27, and one on the westbound route (M5 J27 to Barnstaple). Likewise on the A39 from Barnstaple to Bideford and into Cornwall there are various speed restrictions along the route - but they are well signed. There have been some dreadful 'accidents' along these roads but these are often caused by speeding and trying to get in front of the car in front, especially on the crest of hills where the crawler lanes end. Please bear this in mind and drive carefully and within the limits.

There are good rail links from Paddington and Waterloo to North Devon and for Appledore, the nearest railway station is Barnstaple
